The Farm Family Experience
Boarding is more than a place to keep your horse. For us, the horses and people who call our farm home become part of our farm family.
We offer a welcoming, down-to-earth Kentucky farm where you can feel comfortable knowing your horses have room to be horses. Whether you're a local horse owner, a student bringing your horse to Lexington, or simply looking for a different kind of boarding experience, we'd love to welcome you to the farm.
I'm Lisa McConathy and you are welcome here!
Boarding Options

Full-Care Boarding
Full-care boarding with experienced daily care, stall accommodations, turnout, and the peace of mind of knowing your horse is well cared for.
Self-Care Boarding
Reliable and secure turnout for horse owners who prefer to manage their own care while enjoying the farm's multi-herd turnout.
Whether you need assistance with an occasional feeding, medications or supplements, or catching and holding your horse for the veterinarian or farrier, additional services can be arranged upon request for a small fee.
Also, in the event of inclemate weather and unsafe roads we will feed or care for your horse(s) so that you do not have to drive. We have the proper vehicles and must be at the farm daily regardless of the weather.

Bringing your horse to Lexington?
Heading to college doesn't have to mean leaving your horse behind.
For years, we've helped incoming students and their horses get settled into life in Lexington. And moms and dads can worry a little less knowing their student has a farm family nearby.
We're more than a place to board a horse.
We're a phone call away when something goes wrong—whether it's a flat tire, a horse concern, bad weather, or one of those unexpected problems that comes with being away from home.
And there's usually something going on around the farm. We have occasional cookouts, Fun Shows, trail rides and other farm activities that you're always welcome to join—but you're never required to participate. Come be part of things when you want to, or simply enjoy your horse and do your own thing.
Our farm is approximately 20 minutes from the University of Kentucky campus, with flexible care options and experienced horse people nearby when you need us.
Your horse has a home here—and you have people here, too.

Why board at McConathy Farm?
Farm farrier available, or you're welcome to use your own. Choose your own veterinarian, with help coordinating routine farm visits when possible. Catch-and-hold assistance is available when you can't be there.
Boarding clients also enjoy free Wi-Fi, an on-site bathroom, washer and dryer, convenient paved parking, and access to our farm office copier and scanner when needed.
Care & Convenience
We take the security of our horses, clients and their belongings seriously. Our barns have security cameras, tack rooms are locked, and farm gates are secured.
We continue to invest in the property, including new fencing being installed in stages, with several pastures already completed. McConathy Farm is properly insured, and references are available from boarding clients, parents, veterinarians and farriers.
Safety & Peace of Mind
Training & Riding
An experienced trainer and lesson program are available if you're interested, but lessons and training are never required as a condition of boarding. Private and group lessons are available, with group lessons offered at a discounted rate.
Prefer your own trainer? You're welcome to bring one in with proper proof of insurance. We can also assist with practical horsemanship challenges, including trailer loading and unloading.
English, Western, competitive or recreational—all riding disciplines are welcome and respected at McConathy Farm. Haul-in horses are also welcome with current required health documentation.
Community -- Your Way
There's usually something happening around the farm. Boarding clients are invited to join us for occasional cookouts, Fun Shows, trail rides and other farm activities—but participation is never required.
McConathy Farm is also connected with McConathy Farm Rescue Team, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit horse rescue. If you're interested in volunteering—or need volunteer, service-learning, class or clinical hours—talk with us about opportunities that may be available through the rescue.
Be part of the farm community as much as you'd like, or simply come enjoy your horse and do your own thing.
